My girl friend and I have gone here multiple times, always for dinner, we always have special requests because of our diets, we asked for burgers with lettuce instead of a bun, they are always nice about it and the burgers were delicious both times, cooked to the request. The crab dip was great as well. The staff is friendly and prompt and the environment is very relaxing. We will be going back!
My next door neighbor mentioned this place several times to me stating it's one of her favorite places. My husband and I decided to try it out, as we were in the area. It was an early dinner and we sat at the bar. I liked the ambiance of the place, casual and comfortable looking. He ordered the fish and chip with coleslaw. I order the jumbo lump crab cakes (I think it was their special of the night menu). Being from Maryland, I'm always on the lookout for some good crab cakes. Unfortunately, this was a big miss. There was absolutely no lump crab in the cake. It looked nothing like the crab cake in the photo that Lisa B. reviewed back on on September 25, 2017: or in the photo that Delia V. reviewed on Feb 16, 2020. I was so disappointed, but more importantly, the menu stated LUMP and there was NONE. They were two small hockey pucks filled with white crab meat and a lot of filler. And it was pricey for what I got. Other items on the menu were reasonably priced. My husband had the fish and chips, but opted for the coleslaw instead of the chips, along with dirty rice. I had a taste of all and they were very good. Nice batter on the fish and thick/big portions. There were other items on the menu that sounded interesting, so we'll be back. I just will skip any crab cake there. Lastly, service was very good by Kat. UPDATE: Four of us had dinner last night (14 November 2023). Dan, the general manager, invited my husband and me to try this place again to make up for my disappointment of crab cakes I had on my first visit. I ordered the salmon Florentine risotto special of the evening which included tomatoes, spinach and onions. The salmon was so tender and light, definitely not overcooked. The risotto didn't have a heavy cream sauce, which I appreciated. And just enough parmesan cheese to not overwhelm the salmon. My husband had the Hank's Mom's meatloaf, along with mashed potatoes and Brussel sprouts with bacon. He loved it all. The meatloaf, three slices, came with a side of gravy. My friends meals were very good also (Henry's amazing noodles; and a salad with blackened shrimp). Dan really stepped up to the plate to make up for our first visit. Thank you Dan! Even the Chef came out and asked how we liked our meals. Everything was great. Our waitress was Nancy who provided great service. On our next visit, I want to try the shrimp and grits or the parmesan-crusted chicken or the grilled flank steak or.....
I have been in search of the best burger, in my opinion, in Wilmington. I have tried PT Grille, Mess Hall, Copper Penny, Angus Grille, Rebellion, Smoke on the Water, etc. Some are good and some not so much. Henry’s has knocked it out of the box. This is by far the best burger in this town. I also loved the Pot Roast and the wedge salad was amazing with their homemade blue cheese dressing. I’m loving everything about Henry’s. I might add that if you’ve never been to Henry’s, you should go there. It’s a beautiful restaurant, cloth napkins, great service (Catherine was a wonderful server. Very personable and extremely pleasant).
Lovely experience today!! First time going and will definitely be back! Danielle was our server and she was wonderful! Our service was top notch and the food was delicious! The fried green tomatoes were to die for! And I must say, the young man that opened the door for me was such a lovely touch!! Nicely done guys! PS-thank you for allowing my professional colleagues and I sit and talk for long after and chat about work and life and all the things afterward and not rushing us out. It was later after lunch and I realize the lunch crowd had wound down...but it was still extremely kind of you guys to welcome that and allow us to do so. You guys rock!!!
Highly recommend Henry's for lunch or dinner, the food is soo good. Makena made the evening even better with such a pleasant attitude and keeping our drinks fresh and the food was brought out quickly after ordering. Even the manager checked on us to ensure our experience was exceptional. Can't say enough about Henry's.
We were at the restaurant after church on Sunday 3/23, arrived with a crowd from other churches, Danielle was our server, and we could not have been more pleased with a server anywhere. Food was excellent and Danielle made sure we wanted for nothing. Will certainly be back. Bob Estep
The food was delicious and the service was excellent. Definitely will be back.
We came to Henry’s for Mother’s Day brunch and my wife had the most amazing experience! From the warm, welcoming atmosphere to the beautifully prepared dishes, everything was perfect. We shared the open-face omelette with smoked salmon and capers—absolutely delicious—and the stuffed French toast, which was rich, flavorful, and just the right amount of indulgent. The staff was attentive and kind, and the entire experience made the day feel extra special. Highly recommend for a weekend brunch or any special occasion!
